Code of Ethics
- Members pledge to abide by the By-laws of the AABA, the laws and regulations enacted by public authorities and generally accepted standards of fair and honest business conduct.
- Members agree to practice honesty and integrity in dealings with the public, museums, artists and other art businesses.
- Members pledge that they are professional and responsible dealers and assume complete responsibility for the authenticity of the works their business sells.
- Members pledge that they are experienced and knowledgeable in the types of art they offer for sale, so that purchasers may buy from AABA member with confidence and good faith.
- Members agree to not misrepresent any of the art works offered or artists represented by their business.
- Members agree to abide by fair trade practices and truth in advertising.
- Members agree to avoid spurious marketing techniques such as inflating the fair value of merchandise in order to offer so-called "discounts" and thereby attempting to convey the false impression that the buyer or
prospective buyer is receiving a "bargain."
- Any promotional sales and/or auctions held by member businesses must be bonafide, presented in an ethical and honest manner and meet existing regulations and ordinances. The constant use of "sales" as a consistent
marketing promotion will be in violation of this code.
