Hanging Tree will feature deceased WPA artists Gene Kloss and Esquipula Romero de Romero. Kloss was born in Oakland in 1903. She moved to Taos in 1929 and by 1938 her works were being exhibited in Paris along with Blumenschein, O’Keeffe and Sloan. Her dry point etchings of NM display a sensitive implicity with sharp contrasts, emphasizing the immensity of the West. Romero was born in Cabezon, NM in 1889 and settled in Albuquerque in 1904. By the 1930s he was well known for his portaits, landscapes and Penitente paintings. The gallery also continuously features contemporary artists such as Carlin Kielcheski, a cowboy artist. Also shown are WPA furnishings, antique Indian jewelry, pots and rugs and much more. Join Kate and Reggie Artscrawl evening for great New Mexico art, food and drink.

The Hofmanns bring many influences to their pottery – from the Meissen porcelain and folk pottery of Carl’s native Germany to the wedging and throwing techniques he observed in Japan. They met while working on MA degrees in art at Michigan State and now make their home in Placitas. Both beautiful and functional, the pieces are lead-free and dishwasher safe. Bowls, casseroles and cookware are microwave and oven safe.

Bright Rain hosts an artist’s reception for Beau Carey: West Side, a beautiful and haunting mirror up to Albuquerque's west side halted housing developments. What he calls "new ruins" are abandoned and naked spaces on the brink of inhabitation. His work has often explored how humans relate with the land; his new work takes a turn in the tendency towards huge spatial openness and bigger passages of color. Beau will be offering large, medium and small scale oils paintings and lithographs produced with the esteemed Tamrind institute. (Image: Arrangement in Pink and Grey)
