Waid Griffin, opens Artscrawl evening at Framing Concepts. Albuquerque artist Waid has traveled far and wide throughout the Southwest, capturing the landscape with his bright palette of color. He prefers to paint pleine aire and frequently joins in pleine aire paint-outs. Runs through August 16.

Love likes to tell stories with pencil, pen and ink, and scratchboard. His subjects include of horses, cowboys, trains and Civil War reenactments. Farresta, combines her love of nature and wildlife with her photography. She captures everything from squirrels in her backyard to wolves in wildlife sanctuaries. Gabriel creates Art for People, objects that can be widely appreciated and still conform to his creative vision.

Raised in Canada and now living in London, Morey de Morand’s life and work are heavily influenced by both her travels and the artists she has encountered along her path.

This will be a chance for Albuquerque to see the unique and enchanted world of gourd art at it’s finest, including figures, masks, jewelry, musical instruments, bowls and vessels. Included among the artists in this show are several who have had their word published in books and some who have won ribbons in shows across the nation. Come and see all the amazing things that can be done with art that comes from a vine. The show closes July 28.

Beading artists from around the metro area have entered some of their best work in Mama’s Second Bead Artistry Contest – this time featuring the timeless blue green Turquoise. These contests have become quite competitive, with jewelers submitting their most inspired works, allowing you a window into one of a kind techniques created in our own beading community. At 7pm, winners will be announced in five categories, and you will have the opportunity to take home one of these turquoise jewelry pieces through the Silent Auction, held from 5pm – 7:30pm. Meet the artists, enjoy good company and good food until 8pm.
