Members pledge to abide by the By-laws of the AABA, the laws and regulations enacted by public authorities and generally accepted standards of fair and honest business conduct.
Members agree to practice honesty and integrity in dealings with the public, museums, artists and other art businesses.
Members pledge that they are professional and responsible dealers and assume complete responsibility for the authenticity of the works their business sells.
Members pledge that they are experienced and knowledgeable in the types of art they offer for sale, so that purchasers may buy from AABA member with confidence and good faith.
Members agree to not misrepresent any of the art works offered or artists represented by their business.
Members agree to abide by fair trade practices and truth in advertising.
Members agree to avoid spurious marketing techniques such as inflating the fair value of merchandise in order to offer so-called "discounts" and thereby attempting to convey the false impression that the buyer or prospective buyer is receiving a "bargain."
Any promotional sales and/or auctions held by member businesses must be bonafide, presented in an ethical and honest manner and meet existing regulations and ordinances. The constant use of "sales" as a consistent marketing promotion will be in violation of this code.
